What are the color thresholds for Quality Lists?
The thresholds for our patent quality columns are shown below. We may make these customizable in the future.
- Duration
- Office Actions: Green for 0-3, yellow for 4-5, and red for 6 or more
- RCEs: Green for 0 for 0-1, yellow for 2, and red for 3 or more
- Appelas: Green for 0, yellow for 1, and red for 2 or more
- Pendency: Green for less than 3 years, yellow for 3-4 years, and red for more than 4 years
- Claim count
- Green for 3-4 independent claims and 10-30 total claims
- Yellow if 1-2 or more than 4 independent claims or less than 10 or more than 30 total claims
- Red if 1 or more than 6 independent claims or less than 5 or more than 50 total claims
- Claim length (based on change in number of words in first independent claim from the previous version of the claim)
- Green if length within 10% more than previous claim length (originally filed claims are always green)
- Yellow if length within 20% more than previous claim length
- Red if length is more than 20% longer than previous claim length
- Claim errors (based on the sum of the total number of word support errors, antecedent basis errors and word support errors; warnings are not counted; note the some errors are caused by weird USPTO OCR of claims)
- Green for 0-2 errors
- Yellow for 3-6 errors
- Red for 7 or more errors
