Prep & Pros Pro Gen AI Drafting Tools

Our Word add-in has two tools to assist you with drafting patent applications. You can optionally provide an invention disclosure document to provide the Gen AI assistants with additional information to provide better answers to your questions. We are working on also adding tools for drafting office action responses.

All of our Gen AI tools have zero data retention.  Although we are processing your Word document and a provided invention disclosure document, this information is never stored on a server.

Gen AI Chat for Drafting Patent Applications

Our Gen AI Chat tool is in our Word add-in and will appear when you are working on a patent application. These are the primary features of this chat assistant:

  • You can ask a question and get a response from a Gen AI assistant right inside of Microsoft Word.
  • We automatically provide the assistant with the content of your patent application and invention disclosure document so that the assistant has the information it needs to answer your question.
  • The assistant has access to your chat history so you can revise previous responses.
  • With a single button click, you can insert the assistant's response into your Word document at the current location of the cursor.

Gen AI Prompts for Drafting Patent Applications

We allow you to upload your own Gen AI prompts (we call them custom or BYO prompts) so that you can use the same prompts across all of your work.  Your subscription admin can upload prompts for you on the subscription management page. These are the primary features of our custom prompts:

  • We provide three example prompts for you called "Patent Bots Title", "Patent Bots Background", and "Patent Bots Abstract".  These are simple prompts to generate those portions of your application from the text of your claims.
  • We automatically provide the assistant with the content of your patent application and invention disclosure document so that the assistant has the information it needs to answer your question.
  • For asking precise questions, we have the following placeholders: {{CLAIMS}}, {{INDEPENDENT_CLAIMS}}, and {{FIRST_CLAIM}}. If you don't use one these placeholders, we will include all of your claims at the beginning of the prompt.
  • To make the responses more useful, we recommend including language like this near the end of your custom prompts:
    • Only provide the requested answer. Do not add any explanations. Do not offer to provide other information.
