Prep & Pros Pro Gen AI Drafting Chat

Our patent application drafting tools in Word now include a Gen AI chat interface.  Our Gen AI Chat makes it easy to interact with a Gen AI assistant and insert the results into Word with a simple click.

When you send a chat message, we will automatically include the current text of your patent application in Word, and you can optionally provide an invention disclosure document.  This allows you to provide the Gen AI assistant with the information needed to provide high-quality answers to your questions.

All of our Gen AI tools have zero data retention.  Although we are processing your Word document and a provided invention disclosure document, this information is never stored on a server.

These are the primary features of our Gen AI chat assistant:

  • You can ask a question and get a response from a Gen AI assistant right inside of Microsoft Word.
  • We automatically provide the assistant with the content of your patent application and invention disclosure document so that the assistant has the information it needs to answer your question.
  • The assistant has access to your chat history so you can revise previous responses.
  • With a single button click, you can insert the assistant's response into your Word document at the current location of the cursor.

What Gets Sent to the Gen AI Assistant

The message that you enter into the chat interface is used to construct a prompt to send to the Gen AI assistant.  Here is what actually gets sent to the Gen AI assistant:

Below are portions of a patent application that you may use in assisting with the drafting of portions of a patent application.

CLAIMS:

[We insert the claims from your Word doc. This section is skipped if we don't find any claims or if you use one of our claims placeholders in your prompt (to avoid repetition).]

SPECIFICATION:

[We insert the full specification from your Word doc.  Everything except claims.]

INVENTION DISCLOSURE DOCUMENT:

[If provided, we insert the text of your invention disclosure document. This section is skipped if not provided.]

[Your message is placed here. The Gen AI assistant can use any of the above information in responding to your message.]

Only provide the requested answer. Do not add any explanations. Do not offer to provide other information.

We add the last part to make it more likely that we obtain a response that is directly usable.
