Yes, we can help you draft with SEQ ID NOs more efficiently. Our SEQ ID NOs tab will show a list of SEQ ID NOs that we found in your document.
We have two drafting "modes":
- Number Mode -- Your Word document uses only numbers to refer to SEQ ID NOs.
- Tag Mode -- Your Word document uses only tags to refer to SEQ ID NOs. A tag is non-numeric text that allows you to quickly understand the sequence being referred to.
Important restrictions:
- Tags must start with a letter and cannot include a hyphen (because hyphens are used to indicate ranges).
- You cannot mix numbers and tags in your Word document. You must always have one or the other in the text of the Word document. If you have a mix of the two, we will show an error.
- You cannot have text like "SEQ ID NOs: 1 and 3". Instead, you need to write "SEQ ID NO: 1 and SEQ ID NO: 3". This helps us distinguish tag text from other text.
The idea is that you draft your patent application using only tags. Each time you add a tag, we will include it in our SEQ ID NOs tab like this:
SEQ ID NO | Tag |
1 | aa_long |
2 | aa_short |
When you are done drafting, with the click of a button, you can convert all the tags in your Word document to numbers. If you need to keep editing, you can convert the numbers back to tags, continue editing, and then convert to numbers again.
You can reorder the rows of the table to change the number associated with each tag.
This is a new feature so please send us feedback so that we can make it more useful for you.
